I'm taking a step away from my typical content to get a little personal today. Last week marked 2 years since I decided to resign from teaching. I've been working on a vlog about my experience, and I want to share a preview with you.
3 Lessons I've Learned Since I Quit Teaching:
Confidence doesn't mean you have all the answers
When I started teaching, I was awful at it. I dedicated myself to improving. Somewhere along the way, I became a good great teacher. My confidence came from experience and knowing all the answers.
When I left the classroom to start my business, I didn't have any answers. My self esteem plummeted. I felt lost. I realized that confidence isn't having all the answers and I can never expect myself to have them. Confidence is about trusting yourself and knowing you can count on yourself no matter what's going on. I know I've got my own back no matter what happens.
People Suck
I've met a lot of new people in the last two years. 90% of them have been fine. 9% have been amazing. and 1% truly suck. I've learned a lot about celebrating 99% of people- and not letting the bastards get you down. I'll share more about that 1% in the vlog Saturday at 10am eastern.
Community Matters
When I left, I didn't realize I would be building a community as special as my classroom. I love getting to know you and celebrating your children's successes. You constantly remind me why I care so much about education and the next generation. 🩷
What's New?

Things I Love (contains affiliate links)
🤒 Stay Healthy: I feel like everyone is sick and coughing right now. I've been keeping up with my daily vitamins to support my immune system. I take these ones. A word on the kids cherry flavor- it is a little tart. I don't think a toddler would like it, but if your older kiddo likes sour candy they'll love it. Get 20% off with code: primaryfocus
🥃 Spicy Drinks: Mike and I recently upgraded our barware. We bought these beautiful lowball glasses. My favorite part is that they are stackable. We have limited space in our kitchen, so all 4 glasses only take up half the space of our old ones!
💝 Valentine's Day Edit: The Mint has the cutest selection of Valentine's Day clothes. I love this heart print dress with legging and boots. All the clothes are subtle enough you could wear them year round.
🖍️ Wishing you a wonderful week! Be good to yourself,
