🍎 I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend! My husband and I took a day trip to Hendersonville, NC for the apple festival. We bought more apples than we know what to do with, sipped on cider, and enjoyed the mountains. I know you're wondering, we are team Honeycrisp Apple.

The State Test 😱

If your child is in a testing grade, especially third grade, you'll be hearing all year about the state test.   I've got a few things you can find out now that you can actually stay in control of:

⏱️ How long are testing sessions? This will help you work on your child's attention span/endurance. If your child starts to daydream, do they know how to pull themselves out of it? When they get frustrated, do they have kind self-talk? These are things you can model during homework time this year.

📝 Are there practice tests? Your child will likely have least one practice test, probably more. These tests often include topics that students haven't been taught yet. Help your child walk in confident and learn to laugh at these curveball questions.

👧 Can you advocate for them? If your child is showing signs of ADHD, anxiety, a learning disability etc. this is the time to do something. If you can take the steps now to get a diagnosis, the school can put in place a 504 Plan or IEP to get your child accommodations. Common accommodations include extended time, a small testing group, and extra stretch breaks. If you have questions about this, email me and we can talk. Hello@PrimaryFocus.tv

Parents can feel powerless preparing for state tests in elementary school. But focus on helping your child put their best foot forward every day. They need to know there's a calm, supportive adult who will love them no matter how they performed on the test. ❤️

What's New?

🗓️ September Releases: I've got a fun lineup of videos coming out in September! Make sure you turn on notifications to my channel to be the first to watch!

This Sat 9/9 @ 10am eastern: I HATE my child's teacher (What should I do?)

Sat 9/16: Does my child have to go to preschool to be kindergarten ready?

Sat 9/23: Q & A with a teacher! Primary Focus' first livestream 😄

📸 Brand Photos: I'll post a few of my favorite brand photos at the bottom of this email. My photographer was Julia Fay. She really saw my vision and made Primary Focus come to life!

👩‍🦱 Thick hair: I'm the queen of breaking hair elastics. These spiral hair ties are designed for thick hair. They stay in place- even for a top knot - and don't get tangled in your hair. I went to the pool with my friend and it stayed in my hair even after swimming. If you've got thick hair get size large. They also make a tiny size for braids.

🥑 Avocado Storage: I used to sadly eat half an avocado and then let the other half slowly go bad in the fridge. But no longer! When like and I got married, we got this avocado keeper and guacamole saver. After 2 years they still work and we use them on a weekly basis. They are the most effective food storage products we have in our kitchen.

And now some pictures 😄 Have a great week!
