Feeling overwhelmed by school options in Charlotte, NC? Want to know how to choose the best school for your child? Let's make a plan...

Neighborhood school? Magnet? Charter? Private? CMS?
If you’ve got a spreadsheet, a group chat, and a headache…
You might be a Charlotte parent trying to pick a school.

Charlotte has so many options—and that’s a good thing.
But figuring out what’s best for your child can feel like a full-time job.
That’s where I come in.

I’m Natalie Parmenter—a former kindergarten teacher and local education expert.
I’ve helped hundreds of families navigate this process with clarity and confidence.

I believe there is a great school for your child- now let's make a plan to find it!

Starting school is such a big milestone.

I know you want to make sure your little one has the best start possible. That’s exactly what this workshop is for!

We’ll talk about:

In this 90 minute workshop, you'll learn:

āœ… What actually matters when comparing schools
āœ… How to tour a school (and what to look for)
āœ… The questions to ask—and the red flags to notice
āœ… How to advocate for your child, from application to enrollment

This is not a generic info session. It's a parent-friendly, no-pressure guide through Charlotte’s unique (and sometimes confusing) school landscape.

Each participant will fill out a survey beforehand to customize the workshop to your personal needs. And there will be plenty of time for Q&A.

It’s happening at 6:30pm on your choice of two dates: July 14 or July 16 in the private conference room at People's Market Elizabeth.

Hosted by a real kindergarten teacher:

Hi, I'm Natalie! I was an elementary school teacher in CMS for 10 years. I've taught at public, private, and two types of magnet schools.

When I taught kindergarten, parents came to me with the same questions year after year. I wondered...isn't there a book or expert sharing these answers?

Turns out there wasn't! That's how Primary Focus was born. I'm dedicated to supporting parents so their children can thrive in school.

I want the transition to kindergarten to feel easy for you!

I don't live in Charlotte, NC- will this still be helpful?

Yes and No- about 70% of the information will be relevant to you, but some of the localized school discussion may not apply.

If you're interested, keep an eye out for virtual workshops which are designed for attendees outside of Mecklenburg County. I also host private workshops where we can dive into a specific school district or topic.
