Every spring there are a multitude of festivals and holidays celebrated around the world. Many of them will be observed in your own town. I picked out 3 that are really fun and more likely to have celebrations you could attend. After you read this, just search name of festival + your city + kids

Nowruz: Persian New Year

  • Date: March 19 (lasts 13 days)
  • Nowruz celebrates the Persian New Year, it always falls on the spring equinox. This holiday originates with the Zoroastrian religion, but is also celebrated secularly throughout Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and more. A fun tradition to try is Haft-Sin, where families decorate the table with 7 items beginning with S. More on the tradition here.

Holi: Festival of Colors

  • Date: March 25
  • Holi is a beautiful spring time holiday celebrated on the full moon. Most prominent in India, Holi is a Hindu festival. The overarching themes are good triumphing over evil and unity. People fill the streets and throw pigmented powder everywhere. Each color has a different meaning. If you have an artistic child, this is a great holiday to inspire them. Here's a kid friendly article to share.

Buddhist New Year / Songkran

  • Dates: April 13-15
  • This holiday takes many forms, but links back to the Buddhist New Year. Celebrated in Thailand, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka, Myanmar this spring time holiday is beautiful and fun. In Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand part of the festival includes water celebrations, where people will splash water on each other in the streets. Perfect excuse for a water balloon fight! Here's an article about the Thai New Year.

What's New?

🖍 Behind the scenes: This week is a "behind the scenes" week for me. These are weeks when I do not have a video coming out, so I can really focus in on planning, meeting with parents, and my consulting work. Today I'll be filming, not for myself, but a demo video for Wavio, my favorite edtech company.

👗 The Baby Shower Dress: I snagged this dress at the Nordstrom sale last summer, and now it's marked down to 50% off (lucky you!). I call it my baby shower dress because it hits that mark of being a little dressy, but also comfortable (if you're in between sizes, size up). In fact, I'll be wearing it this weekend (Hi Sara!).

🦋 Spring Uniform: My fav everyday v-neck was just released in a gorgeous cornflower blue. I've been wearing it with jeans and a white denim jacket.

🤧 Dark Circle Solution: Allergy season has started in Charlotte. This time of year I often wake up with puffy eyes and dark circles. I've been layering this cooling yerba mate gel with my my normal eye cream and it's a game changer. Plus it's only $5.99
