Hi, I'm Natalie
I was born in early October, right in the middle of this exact debate, growing up. I started kindergarten at four years old, and somehow I turned out fine: a bachelor's degree, a full career, and a Master's in Education from Johns Hopkins University.

Is my child the right age for this?
The K Delay is built for parents of children between 3½ and 5 years old who are approaching a kindergarten or TK decision.
I keep hearing conflicting "facts" about age and school success, what's actually true?
Honestly, less than you'd think. A lot of what gets repeated in this debate are anecdotes dressed up as data. The real research is genuinely mixed, which is exactly why The K Delay focuses on your child, not a stat someone posted in a Facebook comment.
Will this tell me the "right" answer?
No one can. The research on delaying kindergarten is genuinely inconclusive. What The K Delay gives you is a way to look at your specific child and land on the answer that's right for your family.
We're homeschooling, is this for us?
The K Delay is built for families planning to send their child to public, private, or charter school. Because homeschooling timelines are so flexible, this program may not be the right fit for your situation.
If I delay, will my child just stay home for another year?
No, and this isn't designed around that. Whichever path you choose, The K Delay assumes your child will be in some form of preschool, transitional kindergarten, or similar setting outside the home.
Is the cost of another year of preschool part of what I should be weighing?
Yes. Delaying often means paying for an additional year of preschool, TK, or childcare, and that's a real cost that should be considered. If sending your child on time is what makes sense for your family's budget or logistics, then do it. This decision should be made with both your child and your entire family’s needs + budget in mind.
Do I need to book a 1:1 call too?
Not necessarily. The K Delay is comprehensive on its own, with guided reflections built to get you to a decision. Some parents choose to add a 1:1 call to talk through their specific situation, that's available separately, but it's not required.
How long does it take?
Most parents move through the videos and workbook in a single evening. If you'd rather take your time, it's all yours to revisit.
Will I be able to make a decision right away?
It depends! Some families know right away, others need to wait for their child to mature before making the final decision. The workbook guides you to reflect on your child’s progress as you work with them, have discussions with professionals, and consider what your child needs.
My child has special needs, is this the right product for us?
Maybe. The K Delay is written with a general education classroom in mind.
This may be the right fit if: your child is going to attend elementary school in a general education environment, with additional support from special education teachers (with an IEP or 504 plan)
This may not be a fit if your child will be in a self-contained/specialized classroom environment to support their learning.
If your child has special needs, or you suspect they do, it’s best to pair The K Delay with additional input and support from professionals that support your child.
