Have you ever had to write a difficult email to your child's teacher? Did it fill you with anxiety? I've got three tips for you to make writing that email go a lot smoother.
3 tips to write a difficult email to your child's teacher
- Be brief: It's likely the teacher has an idea of what happened already, so you don't need to explain every detail. Try to keep the whole email under ten sentences.
- Stay Focused: Before you write, figure out exactly what you're trying to ask. Is your child struggling with schoolwork? Are you confused about a consequence? Are you unsure what happened at school? Don't write until you can narrow it down to a clear concern.
- You're on a team: Context is lost quickly in emails so it's easy for the reader to accidentally read your words harshly. To prevent this, make sure you thank the teacher and/or acknowledge the importance of their perspective. And when she responds, I doubt the email will have been written with a harsh tone. If it feels harsh, ask someone else to read it out loud to you.

What's New?
🐲 Lunar New Year: Heads up! The Lunar New Year is February 10th. Check local events in your area, typically these celebrations are family friendly.
🎥 Grateful: Last weekend I released a vlog describing how much I've changed the past 2 years since resigning from teaching. I was really nervous releasing it, but so many of you have reached out with your stories of growth too. Thanks for all the love 💕

📖 page turner: I just finished reading The Silent Patient. I couldn't put it down! I really appreciate the author kept it interesting without leaning on gruesome details.
😌 soothing: I have a problem in the winter- when it's cold my shoulder hunch up to my ears. I try to control it, but it's just a reflex. To help, I got this heated neck and shoulder wrap. It's weighted, so it warms and stretches out my sore neck + shoulders. game changer!
👨👩👧 chit chat: I stumbled across this family journal recently. Instead of journaling daily, it asks a daily question. If your child only gives one word answers, this will facilitate conversation and another way to get closer.
