Last week I shared ways parents should be thinking about state tests. This week I am sharing the teacher's perspective.

In elementary school, your child will encounter tests that are given 3 times a year. Once at the beginning of the year, once in the middle of the year, and the final test at the end of the year.

Here's the secret: teacher's kind of, sort of, don't mind if they bomb the test at the beginning of the year.

Your child's progress will be judged from how they performed at the beginning of the year. These tests are usually given as soon as the school year starts and are designed to see what they have truly retained after a summer of leisure.

So yes, of course we want to see your child ace the test. But if the scores are a little lower than you'd anticipate. Don't stress- your child has all year to prove they can do it.

What's New?

🎥 New Video: My newest video, I HATE my child's teacher (What should I do?), is out! With the amount of teachers your child will have from K-12, there's going to be a least one you have conflict with. This video is a great one to watch so you know your options when this happens.

Coming Up:

This Sat 9/16 @ 10am eastern: I can't send my child to preschool…is that ok?

Sat 9/23: Q & A with a teacher! Primary Focus' first livestream 😄

🙋‍♀️ I need your help: I'm collecting submissions for my preschool video. I want to hear from you!

They say you have to send your child to preschool to be ready for kindergarten, but in the United States that's often impossible. Did you find alternative ways to prepare your child for kindergarten? I want to hear how you made it work and if you feel your child adjusted to school. Just respond to this email!

🔪✉️ Slice: This week's recommendation comes from my husband. Opening boxes always feels a little unsafe. He bought this Slice box cutter with a ceramic blade. It feels dull to the touch, but cuts anything. Great for opening amazon boxes and crafting.

🥑 Avocado Storage: Five of you e-mailed me last week saying you got this guacamole saver, so I'm recommending it again! This airtight container will keep guacamole fresh. Just make sure you push down the lid evenly so it doesn't tip. Don't forget the avocado keeper to store half an avocado.
